Natz Ride for Refugee Education

Did you know that 80% of Syrian refugee children don't have access to education? That's 4 out of 5 children who don't get to go to school! My heart breaks :(

As a teacher for many years I have decided to do something about this crazy statistic!

I'm joining the 25,000 Spins Ride from Murray2Mountains (over 300kms)! YIKES! What am I in for? I haven't been on my bike properly for years! This will be a challenge! Check out my ride:

But being a kid in a refugee camp, unable to attend school, is a much bigger challenge - let's do something about it!

'Three girls giggle cheekily on a mattress laid on a concrete floor in a basement room in Fanar, Mt Lebanon. They have called this inadequate room home for a few years now. Amira, Zeinah and Noura* fled Syria with their parents when fighting intensified in their hometown.

Zeinah is the more talkative of the girls, while the other sisters are rather shy. Zeinah says she has not been in school since they fled to Lebanon. Their mother has tried to register them at the nearest two public schools with no luck - there were no places for them.

Four out of five Syrian children in Lebanon lack schooling, For some it has been years since they had any education. The girls agree they miss being in school. The thing they miss most, they say, is meeting with their friends. Zeinah bravely holds back her tears as she says in a quiet voice, "I miss all my friends."

Your donations can help children like Zeinah and her sisters attend school, providing an opportunity for them to continue their education.'

Our ADRA Refugee Education Project in Lebanon provides education and psychological support for vulnerable Syrian children, ensuring these kids who've been through so much can get safe access to school where they can enjoy a great education, classwork support, and can take their minds off the past and onto a brighter future.

This vital ADRA project receives no government funding. It's fully supported by donors like you and me. And unfortunately right now this project desperately needs funding to keep operating or the project will be shut down.

Let's rally together as I ride and raise funds to help refugee children rise from the ashes of Syria! Let's keep helping these amazing kids get a great education and the emotional support they need after all they have been through!

Donate today! With each uphill km I face on the ride I will donate a dollar too! Every dollar counts! Bring on Murray2Mountains!

Amazing trip! Everyone was so supportive and each level of rider was catered for. Loved it!.
